Walking is very good for healthy life. But using your walk efficiently is most important part of exercise.

For example;

- Walk an extra mile, if you go at a 4 MPH speed it will take only 15 minutes.

- Speed up. Walk for the same amount of time you usually do but go a half-mile per hour faster.

- Kick it into high gear. Slip in a 3/4-mile run before or after the walk.

Yep, I agree with you.

Walking is a good exercise provided that you walk so that it feels your body that you are really working out with lot of sweating and burning extra fat. This is a less expensive form of exercise that is worth trying.

I'm wondering how many of us can walk at 4 mph much less transition into a jog. But yes, walking is great. I plan to do a 2 mile walk with my daughter today. We walk around the golf course which is set up just for walkers. The route is well padded with bark chips and has minimal inclines. I can feel the inclines but just slow down a bit to avoid the tachy bursts. It's better than sitting at home on the computer. Oops. :blush:

I say if you are going to walk around the golf course with your daughter just enjoy the walk and don't worry about the speed. Maybe someone a lot younger than me could do 4 miles an hour for a time. I can do 3 mph for about 45 minutes to an hour on the treadmill but if I'm outside I would like to enjoy the scenery a bit.
