Welcome!
This is the place you may wish to begin posting.
Feel free to just say "hi" or go on to tell us a little bit about yourself if you'd like. You may wish to let us know what is bringing you to the HeartBoard. Do you have any questions for us or what we might be able to do for you? We would like to meet your needs.
Any and all are welcome here: it doesn't matter if you have heart disease yourself or know someone who does, if you want to learn about heart disease or about procedures, if you are trying to prevent heart disease, or if you just want a safe place to visit with other people like yourself......you are in the right place!!
We are all in this together and the HeartBoard family is pleased that you have chosen to join us.

Good thread Shaka!
I can only say that what brought me back here is an awareness of my heart disease. I have been denying it for the last few years and recently decided that I can no longer, nor do I want to, deny it. It is part of who I am now.
Anyway, while this is one of the best places to get trusted info and opinions on all things heart, the people here are what make it very special and different from all other boards.
When I pulled my head out of the sand, I wanted to see your faces...know what I mean?

I first came in back in Dec 2005 for info concerning bypass surgery I had. I was told about this site from Heidi who I knew from another board. Once here though it is like a big happy family and you don't want to leave. I have gotten allot of support from so many other issues that have taken place in my life these past 2 years that I would be lost without this group of wonderful friends.

This site has helped me reach out beyond my immediate environment. With my health issues and also my husband's we are very limited.
The people here feel like family, they always do even from the very first day they ever post. I feel very close to the members.
I learn a lot about heart and other conditions and also ways to prevent my health from getting worse. I'm able to share experiences and get and give support.
This site has always been a haven, no one criticizes (sp?) lol not even on spelling. I feel safe no matter how "unintelligent" my questions and problems might be. Everyone is accepting.

Well Elise, I do know what you mean. It is kind of like coming home in some ways. It pleases me to have you back with us. Feel free to let us know if you care to ... let us know when and how we can help. Right now it is good to just be.... with friends. I know what you mean.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for sharing. You are a valuable part of our team and we love having you here. It is nice to know that people can speak of their cardio issues and questions and in time as you said it becomes a comfortable place where we can talk of so much more. We get to know each other more thoroughly so that we know more of the big picture for each of us. Thanks for letting us in. I hope Tyler is doing well day by day and hope you are feeling more relaxed yourself. Whew...

HI, my name is Tessie and this is my first time at this site. Shakabreeze recommended this site to me in the political forum. I am currently just getting my bearings on how this site works. HAGD ALL.

Hi Tessie. Welcome! I am pleased to see you here. Please let me/us know if you have any questions or thoughts/suggestions. There are kind folk here. Folks who may empathize with you and may answer questions. Or feel free to just talk. That works too. Although everyone's journey differs a bit there are people here that have been through it and I know that helps to talk to these folks.
Have you any thoughts or questions? Do share or just look about and see what we have here.
I am so pleased to see you here.

Congenital Heart Defects affect more children born each year than any other birth defect. They occur in 35,000 to 40,000 births each year in the U.S. alone. They are the #1 cause of neonatal and infant death. In the US there are nearly twice as many deaths due to CHD than that of all forms of childhood cancers combined. Yet there is 5 times more research for pediatric cancer than for CHD. Our children need help in raising awareness of their #1 killer.

Welcome Chastin!
Since I was born with a congenital heart defect, I am very interested in your site. What wonderful work you are doing, thank you.
