More like good evening. Adele and I just got back from a workout at Germania. We danced to the Rhein Valley Brass and that's a polka and waltz band mostly. There was a dinner served before the dance so we timed it to give ourselves and hour and a half between eating and dancing. Don't ask what the dinner was cause I ain't gonna say. Yeah, that bad, but very good.

We tried out a couple of new routines for the polka and they worked well so we'll keep working on them as we get ready for the Volksfest in August. The Rhein Valley Dancers that we belong to is now meeting every Friday before the band starts. This was we can get our dancing in between 7 and 10:30 on Fridays. Next week it's the Ratskeller Band so it will be more of the same. We get a lot more of a workout at Germania than at the Eagles Lodge where it's more big band music and you can cool off with a two step or moderate fox trot. We go to Germania every Friday the band plays and to the Eagles Lodge two or three Saturdays a month. Sundays are recovery day.

Got some tree trimming to do in the morning but first I'm meeting my oldest daughter and grandkids at one of the local Amish buffets for breakfast. Amish in name and staff dress only I would say but some fantastic food.

Hope y'all have a great day.

Gilbert,
It sounds like you and Adele are having so much fun, that it makes me wish I was German instead of Hungarian and lived where they had the traditional dances, events and foods like you do. I can just picture you dancing and hear the lively music in my head when I read your posts.

You've gotten me inspired to "dance" everyday to fast music. I don't last very long and don't go very fast but it's a beginning and is actually fun. Lots funner than the treadmill, lol.

I love the polka, it's a really fun way to dance. I always thought square dancing was fun too, though both of those were before my time (the 60s).

I would like to know what the dinner was, must have been very worth every fat gram and calorie!

I had a busy weekend, my grandsons are in a lot of sports so I'm trying to see as many as possible. It was fun to watch them. The 8 year old is a natural athelete, the 5 year old is full of heart and determination but just doesn't have the ability. He sure wins in the cute category, though. They both do, actually.

Good Day everyone! Thanks for all your help and patience while we update the board some. It is still a work in progress and Google has been around all week and will be even more. Our updated project that we are working on for now should be finished maybe by May 7-9th. Thank you all for continuing to help one another and keep things going smooth. :common076[1]:

On another matter I was thinking about:

A recent study found the average American walks about 900 miles per
year. Another study found Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of
beer a year.

That means Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon. :clapping: :P

Sorry, Folks, have not been around much as I have been working more (seems that the fact that winter is not letting up is depressing to some people...:) )...

That's a good one Jerry!! Denise, I see you have been very busy and productive and I will try to be less of a bum myself LOL.

Gilbert, keep on dancin'!! Have a good day all, I am just heading out...

Ok, here is the dinner at Germania last Friday. I have sinned and know it and am not asking forgiveness cause I'll do it again. Most likely in August during the three days of the Volksfest. That plus several other German festivals in the area from now until November.

For seven bucks you got your choice of a pig knuckle or two brats made from the club recipe that has been a secret since the 1930s. Along with the knuckle or brats (I always take the brats) was kraut, navy beans and German potato salad. As you went by the stations to get your forks there was four types of bread yours for the taking of which I didn't.

The German potato salad was very good but they put more in it that shouldn't be there (green and red peppers) to add some color to please the eye. Real German potato salad is just potatoes, raw onion and bacon and the gravy is vinegar, water, sugar, flour and the grease from the bacon. The beans and kraut was perfect with no sugar in the kraut as it should be.

The regular price of beer is $1.25 for draft or cans and 2.50 for the German imports...cheap.

Ein prosit und essen gut.

Oh Gilbert.... tut tut tut... :faint: :omg: :common076[1]: That sounds wonderful. Have you some mustard for the brats? I love all on the menu and know that you danced all of that decadence out of you ... lots of polka. I just can not ever envision eating pigs knuckles......I vote yes for brats and beans and German Potato Salad. I would prefer your recipe on that as well.

Sounds like you had a great time.. with quite a marvelous menu. All that for seven bucks??? No way to let that get away.

Ok... what is Ein prosit und essen gut? You will feel better and more catharsis if you go ahead and confess it all. ;-)

Yum, it does sound as if you "essen-ed gut" LOL!!

I, like Shaka, would pass on the pig's knuckle.

And the German potato salad, warm or cold, I would fight you for!

Wow, with that rousing German toast I can just hear the beer mugs clinking!

Now I've gotten a craving for the potato salad and also kraut - haven't had any for a long time. I grew up having kraut at least twice a week.

I don't think I'd like pig's knuckles...though I can't figure out what they are because pigs don't have digits. My mom did make pigs' feet in a fantastic jellied something, boy would I love to have that again. They didn't look like pigs' feet, though, just pieces of meat. LOL, I don't think I would have touched them otherwise.

Flycaster - how about a translation of the toast. Otherwise I'll have to ask my pastor (good old German Lutheran) what it means and he may wonder what I've been up to.

Ein prosit means a salute. Der gemutlichkeit is a bit difficult. Der is the, gemutlichkeit is not translatable but means good time feeling. The rest is the good time feelings coming out. At Germania after the last zikie zakie the drummer usually shouts out, translated, would you rather have Jaegermeister? and the answer is nein, nein, nein.

We are about to leave for a Derby party at the Gerst Haus from 2 to 5 and then it will be the Eagles Lodge at 8. So we are gonna dance all afternoon and evening.

Gudentag everyone. I have been away but my body refuses to follow along! I have been all kerflemct-pretty much bedridden since before Easter. We have had so many storms- still getting snow!! And my body has made me suffer for it!!Two different weekends I have been in withdrawal because of screw ups at the docs. It was very ugly. Fibromyalgia combined with "she who I will NOT name" makes that water torture sound much easier One night I was literally crawling around the bed as the fibro shifted around to segments of my body and the shaking from the withdrawl made sleep impossible until about dawn when I finally was so wiped out sweet sleep finally occurred- well that and a handful of klonopins. :action-smiley-077:

My heart has of course joined in and most days any movement away from prone has caused that ole hag to work me over.Even one night this last week I got up to take out Seamus- quite a fur ball at the moment!- and getting dressed wiped me out and I was back to bed. That time it took several hours for the herridan to quiet down enough to let me sleep!!

Oy! I am such a meshugena. OH please lend me your prayers there have been nights I wasn't sure if I could stand the pain anymore- shear torture.

When I am a litttle more conscious I will tell you a very happy and courageous story about my oldest son, Ian.

And now zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz  :common003[1]:

Have missed you Monsieur LePeu! Sorry you are having all these woes, Charles, and hope they settle down for you soon. We had a formal blizzard here on April 19, unheard of on this island. I say, wonky weather go away!

Charles.... Have you changed religions? Hang in there and I look forward to hearing about Ian's galantry from the proud papa. We have been having highs up to 70's and even 80's. Wow.

Denise... If you eat pig's feet.. I think that knuckles are pretty close to the feet....and might be doable for you. Not for me however.

My brother came over today and put in a ceiling fan and light for me. It looks great and I feel like I have upgraded.

Last night I went to a modern dance recital at a local community college and tonight a play at a local high school. Tomorrow I rest with a side order of laundry.

Gilbert, hope you are enjoying your polkaing.

Jan.. What is the difference in a formal and an informal blizzard? ;-)

It sounds like Flycaster and Gilbert are the toast masters here. Nine?
